2009 Bannock County

Market Stock Sale

Each year many  youth from around Bannock County enthusiastically choose 4-H and FFA livestock projects to compete at the county fair. In addition to the monetary costs, these projects entail hours of labor and patience though feeding, training, and preparing their animal for the show. The youth, in the meantime, learn important and essential life skills such as communication, cooperation, responsibility, and compassion for the humane treatment of animals. The Junior Livestock Auction provides you an opportunity to invest in the youth and their future. Proceeds from the sale of their projects most often help fund college education, further enabling these youth to become contributing members of society. The real purpose of 4-H and FFA livestock projects are to provide opportunities for young people to develop character. The Bannock County Fair would like to encourage you to support the 2009 Market Stock Sale.

How the Sale Works….

Buyers may purchase animals for their own use just as they would at a regular auction.  If the buyer does not want to keep the animal, he/she can pay the “boost” price which is the difference between the final selling price and the actual market (floor) price. The “boost” price is paid by the winning bidder and is considered a donation to the 4H/FFA exhibitor. If you do not want to purchase the meat for private use or pay the “boosted price” but want to support the youth, an “add-on” donation will mean a great deal to exhibitors.  After sale, “add-on envelopes” will be available the morning of the sale. Add-on envelopes must be turned in by 3:00 pm the day of the sale. If you are unable to attend the sale, a member of the Sale Committee will be glad to take care of bidding for you.

Terms and Conditions of Sale…..

Animals will be sold individually and on a per head basis. The base price of the animal will be noted on the sale order list. Lists can be picked up the morning of the sale in the Livestock Pavilion at the Bannock County Fairgrounds in Downey. All sales are final. No private treaties will be accepted after the animal is purchased and leaves the arena.

Thanks for your Support!

Thanks to all those buyers who supported the Bannock County Junior Livestock Program in 2008. The Junior Livestock Program is one of the finest youth livestock programs in the Inter-Mountain West. None of this would be possible without the generous financial support of businesses, parents, and merchants. Thanks to you

parents, 4-H Leaders, FFA Advisors, businesses and merchants for investing in the youth!
