In 2009, there were
160 members in the Blaine County 4-H Program. 4-H members participated in
club activities such as horse, livestock, poultry, shooting sports, sewing, Know Your Government Conference, Teen Conference,
Junior Master Gardener, quilting, cooking, and Wildlife Day Camp. Members
worked on their projects throughout the summer and displayed their accomplishments at the
Blaine County Fair in August. The Blaine County 4-H program publishes a monthly newsletter
and calendar that provides helpful information on 4-H
events taking place locally and statewide.
The Extension Office also sponsors a
summer
camp that takes place in July of each year. Several Day Camps are
offered throughout the year and include:
-
Lamb Camp
-

Volunteers
are
the heart of the 4-H program. They serve a multitude of roles. Not only do they supervise
and direct activities, they serve as role models and advisors for youth interacting with
them throughout the summer. There are 31 club project leaders in Blaine
County. Several other adults serve as resource volunteers
at 4-H camp, events, and at the Extension Office.
4-H is a national youth organization dedicated to the development of youth and
providing a foundation for them to become responsible, productive citizens, meeting the
changing needs of a diverse society. The mission of the Idaho 4-H program is to help Idaho
youth acquire knowledge, life skills, and attitudes that enhance their lives. This is
accomplished as youth "learn by doing" as they participate in 4-H club
activities.
4-H members range in age from 7-18years of age. (Specific age requirements do apply.)
4-H membership is open to all eligible youth. However, the maximum number of club members
and type of projects offered is established by individual club leaders. Clubs
meet on a schedule determined by the leader. Enrollment begins in October.
