Data Tools For Understanding Communities

The ability to understand the demographic profile and trends in Bonner County is critical in identifying issues and sustainable alternatives. This includes trends in population growth, age, ethnicity, educational level; social issues such as graduation rates, youth pregnancy rate, and crime rates; and economic data including employment and unemployment rates, rates of economic growth in selected fields, and growth and/or decline of industries vital to the communities economic well-being. Elected officials, decision makers, government organizations, and civic groups sometimes need help accessing and utilizing this kind of data. The Data Tools project involves helping communities and counties gain a better understanding of available data and how to use that data in making decisions and understanding how Bonner County has changed over time. Data is available in nearly every area, and can be customized to fit the needs of particular clientele.

The Bonner County At A Glance brochure is updated often and is available for download. Copies are available at the University of Idaho Extension Office in Sandpoint. A limited number of copies are available at no cost; however, there is a nominal charge for more than 20 copies of the full color brochure. To download the brochure, click here: Bonner County at a Glance Brochure. A PowerPoint presentation that explains the data and how to interpret trends in Bonner County is available. To schedule a presentation to your organization or group, contact Susan Traver at 263-8511, or straver@uidaho.edu.
