What is Extension Community Development   

The University of Idaho Extension Community Development program focuses on creating sustainable social and economic systems  to improve the quality of life in Idaho's communities.

University of Idaho Extension Faculty focus on programming areas including:

 

Leadership Development & Civic Engagement 

Community leaders in Idaho need skills to address the many changes they are facing.  UI Extension is helping to build community leadership through community leadership development training and facilitation, individual leadership & skill building training, and non-profit board training.

Programs include formation of community committees to build leadership capacity, workshops, in-depth training & coaching.

 

Data Tools for Understanding Communities

This Community Data Tools project was designed to assist Idahoans in gaining an understanding of the economic, social, and demographic circumstances of their county in relation to other Idaho counties and to the state of Idaho.  Click one of the links to the right or visit our website:   Data Tools For Understanding Communities Website.

 

Economic Development, Diversity & Vitality

Organizations, small business and non-profit organizations are vital to the economic health of a community.  UI Extension has a number of projects designed to strengthen Idaho's small communities.  Projects include; Customer Relations, Business & Community Entrepreneurship and Economic Viability Analysis.

Data Tools for Understanding Communities

The Clearwater County at a Glance brochure provides the latest demographic information in Clearwater County.

CIS 1145 Reliable Data Tools for Idaho Counties and Towns publication lets you know when the latest statistics are released and where to find them.

CIS 1159 Data Definitions, A Quick Reference for Communities and Counties, clarifies terms often used by the U.S. Census bureau and other federal and state statistic-generating agencies.

Business & Community Entrepreneurship:

This in-depth program focuses on using existing NxLevel entrepreneurial training curriculum. Contact UI Extension for upcoming course offerings.

 

QuickBooks-- Coming this Fall to Orofino

This 12 hour short course provides participants with hands on instruction to learn practical record keeping skills. Training includes topics such as working with bank accounts, entering sales information, receiving payments and making deposits, analyzing financial data, tracking inventory, payroll and more.

 

Customer Relations:

Customer relations focuses on strengthening Idaho’s small business owners and government organizations by helping them to develop a customer service mindset.  Contact UI Extension for more information on this program.
