Name:             Mir-M. Seyedbagheri

Position:         Extension Educator/Professor

Biography:     Mir-M. Seyedbagheri was born in Shahpour, Iran on May 15, 1954.  He received his BS Degree in Soil Service and Biometeorology from Utah State University in 1980.  An MS in Agricultural Education was obtained from the same University in 1984.  Mir has worked in the field of agriculture since the age of 10.  In 1984 he accepted a position from the University of Idaho as County Agent for Elmore County.  Mir’s extensive background in international research has added a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the state’s agricultural community.

Mir has received numerous awards, certificates and letters of appreciation since becoming the County Agent.  In 1995, Mir received the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Agriculture, Elmore County Farm Bureau Award for extraordinary contributions to Elmore County farmers, Menoufia University’s gold medal in recognition of distinguished efforts in international cooperative programs, National 4-H Distinguished Service Award, Grand Marshall in Ag Day Parade, MHAFB Citizen of the Year, full scholarship from Department of Environmental Conservation, Iran, for Utah State University, National Dean’s and Dean’s List, and the 1992 4-H Camp “Best All Around Dude” award, along with many other honors.

Mir is especially proud of his love of working directly with growers and agribusiness professionals in the field to help growers improve the quality of their business, save money, and at the same time help protect and improve the environmental quality of the land.  As a result of Mir’s applied research, growers have saved hundreds of thousands of dollars and prevented excess nutrient leaching from over-fertilization, improved the quality of their crops, and increased the yield of their fields.  Mir is very respected in the community for his contributions to agribusiness and community awareness of agriculture’s impact on our economy and quality of life.
