Priscilla Salant - University of Idaho Coordinator, Outreach & Engagement -- Email

Priscilla Salant is the University of Idaho's Coordinator for Outreach and Engagement. Her responsibility is to work across all academic areas to link the university's faculty and students with communities throughout Idaho. She also has lead responsibility for Idaho's Horizons program. With David Beurle of Innovative Leadership Australia, Priscilla developed the Pacific Northwest Futures Game.

Priscilla's books include Local Government Guide to the Internet (with Christine Dearien, published by TVA Rural Studies and the National League of Cities); How to Conduct Your Own Survey (with Don Dillman, published by John Wiley and Sons); Guide to Rural Data (with Anita Waller, published by Island Press); and Small Towns, Big Picture (published by the Aspen Institute).

Barbara Petty - Horizons Project Director -- Email

Barbara Petty is an Extension Educator, currently serving as the Horizons III Project Director. Her educational background includes a Master's degree from the University of Nebraska in Human Development and the Family and a Ph.D. from the University of Idaho in Education.

Prior to moving to Idaho with her family she taught Family and Consumer Sciences on the Junior High, Senior High and college levels in Missouri and Nebraska. From her childhood on a farm in rural Nebraska, Barbara brings to Horizons her love for small rural communities and welcomes the opportunity to help them prosper.

Debbie Gray - Alumni Community Director -- Email

Debbie Gray is a Community Development Grants Coordinator in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology.

After growing up on a dryland wheat farm/cattle ranch in southeastern Idaho, she attended the University of Idaho and obtained an M.S. in Environmental Science with research on settlement patterns and economic development related to the rail industry on the Palouse.

In addition to Horizons, she creates maps for the Northwest Area Foundation Indicator Website and designed the maps for The Pacific Northwest Futures Game with David Beurle and Priscilla Salant. Other projects include UI Extension Community Data Tools; Profile of Rural Idaho and Idaho at a Glance: Rural Education 2009. She is often inspired by the energy, creativity and resilience of people in rural communities throughout the west.
