Farm Service Agency

FSA has a program especially for youth!  This program teaches students the value of record keeping and budgeting in addition to giving them the chance to learn more about farming and agriculture. 

FSA makes loans to individual rural youth to establish and operate income-producing projects.  Each project must be part of an organized and supervised program of work

Who may borrow?

  • citizen of the United States

  • Anyone between 10 & 20 years old

  • Live in a town of less than 10,000 people.

  • Unable to obtain a loan from other sources; and

  • Conduct a modest income-producing project.

Idaho Attorney General’s Scholarship

The Idaho Attorney General’s Office has established a college scholarship program for 4-H and FFA members. Two $750 scholarships will be awarded annually to in-coming freshman at each of Idaho’s state-funded institutions of higher learning. Applicants need three years of involvement in either Idaho FFA or 4-H programs. Scholarships, selected by March 15 each year, will be based on financial need. Interested students should contact the financial aid office of the school they plan to attend for application forms and deadlines.

 

O.M. Plummer Memorial Scholarship

The O.M. Plummer Scholarship Fund was established in memory of the late O.M. Plummer in recognition of his outstanding efforts on behalf of the   4-H Club Program and the Pacific International Livestock Exposition. The Oregon Community Foundation is the trustee of this scholarship fund. Each year one outstanding 4-H livestock member from Idaho who has participated in livestock showing or judging beyond the county level will be awarded a scholarship to assist the winner in attending a college of his or her choice. In keeping with the original intent of the scholarship to be used for members who have participated in the PI, those eligible to receive this scholarship must have participated in beef, sheep, swine, dairy, or goat projects.

 

Idaho 4-H Endowment Scholarship

The Idaho 4-H endowment Board offers $500 scholarships to assist Idaho 4-H members with post-high school education in Idaho. Six scholarships are offered for first year students at Idaho universities, colleges, or technology and trade schools. Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 20 and have been a 4-H member for four years , with at least two of those years during high school. Two scholarships will be offered for upperclassmen (sophomore, junior, senior). Applicants must be enrolled in and Idaho university, college, or technical school and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Applicants must have been an Idaho 4-H member for at least four years, with at least two of those years during high school.

 

Jerome County Leader's Council Scholarship

The Jerome County 4-H Leader's Council has established a scholarship to recognize outstanding  4-Hers in Jerome County who wish to further their education and use the skills they gained in the    4-H program.  Each year, one Jerome County 4-Her will be awarded the scholarship to assist in attending a college or post-secondary school of his/her choice.  A 4-Her can apply each year but can only receive the award once. 

 

Colgate Youth for America Award

Has your club performed some sort of community service in the past year, or does your club plan to do some before March 1, 2008?  If so, you may want to enter it into the Colgate Youth for America Award. 

Colgate will give away 300 cash prizes for the best community service projects entered.  Entries must be submitted by April 1, 2008.  Entry forms are available at the 4-H Office.  To see what other winners have done visit the website:

Wells Fargo Wristwatch Award Program

Each year, Wells Fargo/First Security Foundation recognizes achievement in Idaho's 4-H members by awarding wristwatches.  Each county may select one member per year to receive this award according to his/her achievements and activities.
