Barton will be here discussing disease issues, confined feeding
operations and EPA
January 13:
Superior Livestock and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals:
Superior Livestock's full service
marketing plan offers the consignor and buyer The Superior
Advantage of Added Value, Consistency and Leadership in
today's changing market. Representatives from Superior
Livestock will be available with information regarding all of the
Superior Advantage Programs as well as Dr. Bruce Hoffman with
Animal Profiling International with a presentation on BVD-PI
Testing and representatives from Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.
Topics will include: superior verified source and age
verification; select VAC vaccination protocols; select VAC
vaccination protocols; BVD-PI testing; superior preferred
financing; NGTC; certified natural; superior VAC protocols.
January 20: Weed
Night (3 recertification credits):
Herbicide labels; scotch thistle;
perennial pepperweed and puncture vie biology and management; best
practices for weed management; cows grazing noxious weeds
January 27:
Forage Night:
Glenn Shewmaker,
U of I Extension Forage Specialist will discuss no-till alfalfa
and reducing winter feed cost. John Hall and Brad Johnson will
review the results of the summer annuals trial at the Cummings
Center.
February
3:
Range Night:
Kelly
Crane, U of I Extension Range Specialist will share how summer
cattle grazing influences subsequent winter/spring forage
conditions for elk. He will also speak about rangeland monitoring
techniques for ranchers.
February 10:
COOL and Market Update:
Wilson Grey, U of I
Extension Economist will discuss COOL and its implications for
producers and also give a cattle market update.

STEWARDSHIP FOR LANDOWNERS
All landowners have this
dream of what they want their property to look like while being
sensitive to the natural resources and impacts. Stewardship
for Landowners workshop will help landowners have the information
necessary to develop that dream. Workshops will include:
* Setting the
Stage/Inventorying Resources
* Your Living Soil
*All Life Depends on Water
*Love Your Grass
*Don't Forget All the Animals
Those participating will
have the opportunity to suggest topics they would like to see
covered during the course. Classes will be held on Thursday
nights beginning on March 19 and continuing thru April 23.
They will start at 5:30 p.m. and continue till 10:00 p.m.
Class will be held at the Extension Office Conference room.
We must have 8 landowners registered to hold the class. Cost
for the course is $80 and registration is due March 10.

Master
Gardener Classes
Master Gardener Classes will be on
Tuesday nights beginning on
March 17 and continuing thru April 28
from 5:30p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Classes will be held at th e
Lemhi County Extension Office classroom.
Classes will include weed management,
landscaping, soils,
plant biology, plant disease,
irrigation & fertilizer, vegetables, berries
& fruit trees, houseplants & container
gardening. Those participating
and wanting to become a certified
master gardener are required to attend 36 hours of class and
complete 30 hours of community service. Cost of the class is
$80 and registration is due March 10. Space is limited and
will be based on date of paid registration received.
