Ms. Hampton has responsibility for food safety programming in the Panhandle of northern Idaho. She works with FCS Educators in Bonner and Kootenai County to train Master Food Preservers. In an effort to provide this important information/training to more stakeholders, she developed a web-based food safety course that could be taken for personal improvement (non-credit) or for academic credit. Students from five states and Germany have participated in the course since its introduction in the summer of 2004. Ms. Hampton also networks with service agencies in Boundary County to mentor grandparents raising grandchildren and other senior issues. Because of the high population of Latino farm families in Boundary County, she has offered parenting classes at Elk River Farm and she has had some of her class handouts translated into Spanish. |
