In Custer County, Mr. Hawkins has provided assistance to producers in determining the economic feasibility of intensive grazing versus haying of pasture, and as a result increased producer income. As weed superintendent Mr. Hawkins is responsible for a very successful control program in Custer County. Through his efforts various biological insectaries (100 plus sites) have been established to serve the citizens of Custer County. Mr. Hawkins is also recognized regionally for his expertise on natural resources policy issues and often provides insight and research on a variety of issues to assist county and federal decision-makers in establishing policies and in responding to agency policy recommendations. |
