| Successes and Current Activities: |
Mr. Cook provides technical support and conducts applied studies for beef producers in Gem, Boise and Payette Counties and dairy producers in Gem, Payette and Washington Counties. He is currently conducting a survey of dairymen in a tri-county area to determine their changing educational needs and how they would prefer UI Extension to respond. He has conducted numerous field trials investigating the impacts of pasture fertilization on animal mineral deficiencies and performance. He cooperates with other university faculty, governmental agencies, and allied industries to conduct winter beef schools, regional milker schools, and retained ownership programs. Mr. Cook has regionally recognized expertise in commercial and consumer horticulture, specifically in weed and pest management. He conducts pesticide recertification classes for area farmers and provides technical support for fruit growers, the Lower Payette Coordinated Weed Management Area group and the Gem County Weed Board. Mr. Cook teaches Master Gardener classes, provides individual horticulture problem solving, and assists and supervises Gem County 4-H/Youth Development programs. |
