| Successes and Current Activities: |
Ms. Christensen’s program is split between youth and adult education. She has been a participant in a $34,816 grant supporting the Parents as Teachers Demonstration Project in Gooding County and is county administrator and educator for the program with responsibility for supervising a parent educator who serves 25-30 families with 50-60 children. Ms. Christensen is supervisor of a 4-H Hispanic program assistant who works in the innovative program she developed by partnering with schools to increase 4-H participation by Hispanic youth; the program is annually funded by a $15,000 private foundation grant. A new Hispanic 4-H club has been developed in Gooding County. Ms. Christensen is a board member of the KinCare Coalition, Idaho Commission on Aging Task Force and is on the Governor’s Roundtable for Families and Children, Region V. She has written scores of fact sheets on parenting issues, which have been accepted for inclusion on the Idaho KinCare Coalition website. Her expertise in child-friendly after school care programs, grandparents raising grandchildren, and helping parents and children of divorce has been recognized nationally. She is a frequent presenter at state and national conferences and continues to offer programming in parenting, human relations, families and youth at risk, healthy lifestyles, nutrition and food safety. |
