Person: Ben Eborn
Program Thrust: Community Development and Agriculture
Major Programs: Local Community Development Issues and Farm and Ranch Business Management
Successes and Current Activities: Mr. Eborn believes that strong leadership is the foundation for economic development within a community. He is currently working in cooperation with the extension system in Teton County, Wyoming, to provide adult leadership development courses for local community members in both Teton Counties. The courses aim to foster the development of leadership skills and abilities and provide individuals with an understanding of community resources and issues. He is currently providing extensive Farm and Ranch Business Management training to farmers in Teton, Fremont, Madison, Franklin, Bear Lake, Caribou, and Oneida counties. He prepares the annual report “The Financial Condition of Idaho Agriculture” for the Idaho Legislature's Joint Legislative Economic Committee. Mr. Eborn also provides Master Gardener training to local residents, and assists the county in its efforts to control noxious weeds by managing the noxious weed mapping program and the biological control program for local landowners. Mr. Eborn organizes a biannual career fair where local high school students have the opportunity to learn from professionals in over 25 different fields. He also works with youth to provide various 4-H activities and programs.
