Washington
County is located in Southwestern Idaho along the Snake River
bordering eastern Oregon. Immediately to the north is Adams County,
with Gem County to the east, and Payette County to the South.
Washington County is a diverse topographic region ranging from low
irrigated cropland near Weiser to rolling hills and high mountains
in the north and east. Several irrigated crops are grown in
the south including onions, sugar beets, potatoes, alfalfa, corn,
beans, and safflower. The center of the county consists of rolling
hills which provide vast areas for grazing and dry land farming. Irrigated agriculture is also found in the central
portion of the county in the Midvale and Cambridge valleys.
The northern portion of Washington County is comprised of rugged forest
with numerous streams and valleys.
The county contains 935,936 acres with approximately 32% of it
classified as Federal land, and approximately 2% classified as State
or local land.
