4-H
Ambassador Program:
A 4-H Ambassador is a 4-H teen member
who represents many 4-H members. Ambassadors are leaders who accept
a unique responsibility for initiating and carrying out public
relations activities on behalf of 4-H.
An Ambassador's mission is to
encourage support and involvement in 4-H from youth, parents, other
4-H'ers, volunteers and the general public. Ambassadors develop
skills in communication and public speaking, and use these skills to
educate and inform people about 4-H. They also help recruit members
and volunteer leaders.
To be eligible to become an
Ambassador, members must be ninth grade or above, have completed two
or more years of
4-H, and have a letter of recommendation from an
extension educator, 4-H program assistant or county volunteer
ambassador coordinator. Training for about 50 new and returning
Ambassadors will be held in November.
After training, Ambassadors can move into junior or senior levels
depending on their interest and willingness to take on
responsibility.
Applications are due in our
office October 15, 2009.
