4-H Opportunities

Idaho Wool Scholarship:

4-H members, ages 12-18 with garments construction skills in using wool fabric or yarn, may compete for awards at the district and state levels.

Participants must be enrolled in a 4-H clothing, knitting or crochet project and receive a blue/gold ribbon in both construction and fit and interview at the county level.

The garment must be a minimum 50 % wool blend. The basic level is for 4-H members 12-16 who construct, knit, or crochet a simple garment such as a skirt, vest, or sweater.

Members 14-18 may enter the advanced level and construct, knit, or crochet a garment which includes at least 4 advanced techniques.

Members 14-16 may enter either level based upon the type of garment they make.

District contests are held in late summer and fall.

The Idaho Wool Growers Association offers four $100 award, one per district, to winners at the district level.

An additional $600 award is presented to the top project garment among the four district winners.

Basic Level winners in each district will receive a $25 award.
