National 4-H Congress 2009

The purpose of the National 4-H Congress is
to recognize and promote excellence in the 4-H
Youth Development Education program. Congress
will include workshops, cultural events,
community service projects, and sightseeing. It
will be held in Atlanta, Georgia November
28-December 2, 2008.
Ten to fifteen Idaho 4-H members will be
selected to attend. All trips will be sponsored
by state and local donors. State will secure
funding for expenses at Congress - registration
and lodging. Delegates will help pay for travel
expenses, minimum $150, possibly as high as
$650, depending on amount of donor support and
cost of airline tickets. (2007 cost/delegate was
$350.)
Idaho will use The
National 4-H Congress
Application Form, #91801, a letter of
reference and a videotaped interview to select
delegates. Videotaping will be scheduled at Teen
Conference, or by appointment with your County
Extension Office. Applications and videotapes
are due in the State 4-H Office July 9. Check
with your County Extension Office for the county

Idaho 4-H members who have passed their 14th
birthday, but not their 19th birthday, on
January 1, 2008, and who have not attended
National 4-H Congress, may apply. Applicants
will use the 4-H Summary section to highlight
their achievements in one or more of their
strongest project areas. All applications will
be considered for non-specific sponsored trips
and any specific sponsored trips (listed right)
offered in a project area included in the 4-H
Project Summary section.
