Introduced in California in the 1850s, Scotch broom is an ornamental whose golden blooms hide a dangerously prolific invasive plant. Its ability to outcompete other plants has incurred significant management costs, like in Oregon, where timber revenue and control expenses topped $40 million in the 2000s. This 2008 full-color publication provides all the basics for dealing with this visually stunning threat, including biological descriptions and methods for its prevention and control.
