Western larch is a tough tree that is resistant to insects and diseases. Its deciduous foliage protects it against many of winter’s onslaughts and contributes to its fire resistance. This publication covers the ecology, special attributes, special problems, silvicultural treatments, harvest systems, and tips for growing Western larch. Its unique qualities present opportunities for the future unlike any other Inland Northwest conifer.
